Aerial Mapping Services began business in July 1995 serving civil engineers, land surveyors, land developers, and municipalities. Since that time, we have become a leader among firms providing geographical information, digital mapping technology, digital orthophotography, and LiDAR digital imaging. We have managed federal and local projects that have included hydrology studies, waste reclamation, American Land Title Act (ALTA) surveys, street improvements, fiber-optic and power lines, right-of-way acquisition, topologically structured databases, and housing developments. Lately we have been privileged to lay the groundwork for new solar and wind farms and also to assist in the exploration of new alternative forms of energy.
Our President, Tim Nelsen, has over 31 years of experience in the mapping industry. He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a bachelor's degree in Cartography and supplemented his degree with advanced courses in computer-aided design and an associate degree program in engineering drafting. He is a certified photogrammetrist with the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).
Tim is highly experienced in aerial photography, map compilation, digital topographic mapping, and citywide mapping for the Geographical Information System (G.I.S.) and Land Information System (L.I.S.). He gained this knowledge from working for several large engineering companies and since starting his own company. One of his most notable accomplishments is the building of an electronic digital-scanning device for digital terrain modeling data collection, which helped pioneer the standards for DTM data collection used today.
Tim has high expectations for his entire team of photogrammetrists, pilots, and surveyors, which is why Aerial Mapping Services has a long history of satisfied clients who trust us to complete their surveying projects accurately and on time.
